Information about the Back Gate
As a convenience for Timacuan residents, the developers created a back entrance to our community when it was originally developed back in the 80's. The entrance, located at the end of Mohegan Blvd., is gated 24 hours a day to prevent commuter and other traffic from cutting through Timacuan. The land and 100 feet of the street on which the gate sits is owned by the association, joining what is actually two dead end streets, Mohegan Blvd. and Shealey Road.
Even though over 1,000 cards and clickers have been purchased by residents for gate access, we still have an ongoing problem with non-residents (and some residents) waiting at the gate to follow authorized vehicles in or out, many times the wrong way.
Since the gate and the area surrounding it is private property, our only recourse is to obtain the tag number of the vehicle and (1) if a resident, inform them that they need to obtain a gate card and could be subject to a fine (2) if a non-resident, notify them that they are trespassing and are subject to prosecution for repeated offenses.
The gates are camera monitored, but have a fixed focus to enable identification of the entire vehicle so cannot pick up the license plate.
